About a week ago after a trip to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, our mom (Mom Engelmann) found out she may have Leukemia. This trip came about after many months or frequent visits to the doctor for what they thought were just infections. She was often given an antibiotic and a few days later felt somewhat better...until the next infection came along. So today is a big day for our family, for my mom goes in once again (to Mayo) to find out if for sure it is Leukemia and if so, what stage she's in. Last week the doctors also removed a questionable mole from her face and today she'll know the results of that biopsy as well. If in fact the mole is cancerous, it will effect her whole body (underlying Leukemia) and she'll need to start treatment right away. If the doctors are right, her leukemia is a chronic one and she might have had it for years and not even known...and she could live with it for many years to come. So, please keep our family in your prayers, especially today. Today's a big day for her. The wait may have been the worst part and we're hoping that at least today we'll have some answers...and a plan.
A quote from a friend recently has kept me feeling a little stronger- 'God only puts on your shoulders what he thinks you can handle.' Thanks Katie.
